Peacekeeping Memorial - Canberra
The Australian Peacekeeping Memorial, located at the southern end of Anzac Parade in Canberra, the capital of the Australian Capital Territory, commemorates the service and sacrifice of all Australians who have served in peacekeeping or peace enforcement missions around the world.
The Memorial has two main elements. The first is made up of two black polished masonry monoliths that symbolize the opposing forces of the conflict. The second is the passage through a bright corridor of light that evokes instead the role of the Australian peacekeeping forces and their assistance to local populations.
This symbolic work of art has a surprising presence on Anzac Parade both day and night.
